Unseasonably Warm Season's Greetings
(Photo: Sunset from my kitchen window, 1:32pm today, the Winter Solstice)
It's 5 degrees today, predictions are for 2 degrees on Christmas day. It snowed a bit on Tuesday, but it's all melted. Translation for my Australian readers: that's freakin warm!A White Christmas is pretty much a given here. This time last year, we had been under a metre of snow for a month already.
It's all academic, though, since I won't in Sweden for chrissy anyway. I'm going civilized this year, I've been invited to spend it with my old friend Wai Keet at Cambridge, with Kings College Choir and all that fancy stuff. Don't worry, I'll regress in time for New Years.
Before that I'll be in London, staying once again in the lavishly appointed bathtub of Jo H. (Egypt Jo, the first of the four Jo's I've travelled or stayed with this year).
I don't have firm plans for NYE yet, but numerous other previously featured personalities including but not limited to Jo S. (i.e. Spain/Norway Jo), Jeremy, Katie H. (Jo H's sister, not KT), Chia, Mikey, and Pedro, will be orbiting London around that time, so I'm sure it'll be great. Could be a bit a logistical mess though, as none of those people know each other at all, association with me being their only common element (aside from general jubbliness). I'm sure something will fall into place.
Anyway, to all my friends:
God Jul (Merry Christmas)

Gott Nytt År (Happy New Year)

Gott Nytt År (Happy New Year)
Last year's New Years resolution was to watch less episodes of Joey. Despite the tractor-beam-like force of temptation, I think I've at least given it a good shot. Time to aim for something bigger.
Last week in San Diego, I met a couple of Aussie gals who had managed to talk, or flirt, their way into The Viper Room* in L.A., which inspired me to the following dream: to get in there, and request that the DJ play TISM's (He'll Never Be An) Old Man River**.
I figure it'll go down pretty well - "That's what he said!" - Badoom tish!
Might be asking a bit much to achieve this over the next year, so maybe it's a
Rest of my Life Resolution.

My new year's resolution is to go drinking in LA before my birthday so that I can sing that song: 'What the hell am i doing drinking in LA? I'm 26! (Got my mind on my money and my money on my mind)'.
I think we can do it!
This is seriously my New Year's resolution.
x
The fact that we have such bizarrely synchronised New Year's resolutions must mean something!
Let's do it!
I love YouTube

Weird weather is the norm. The victorian snow fields are currently experiencing bushfires and expecting snow on christmas day.
Bugger me gently, if it snows in Victoria and not in Northern Sweden on Christmas Day, that would be a world gone TOPSY TURVEY!!

Ian you've got some moves! :)
Merry Christmas!
Thanks again, internet!

Never mind.
Ahhhhhh TISM. Makes you proud to be an Aussie.
Hello Ian, my correspondent in the Lapland field- well I just read the annual Manchester Christmas tome and thought it about time I caught up on the movements of my favourite Australian second cousin [after the girls]... and well, well, well, it seems you are in town! We should definitely hook up for a bevvy sometime, someplace in the next few days.
Do you like the Rapture? Anyway, one of them is doing a DJ set at this pub in Camden, near to where me and Martin live and we were going to head along on Jan 1st. Its a free gig and is on at 3pm I think. Just enough time to recover from the night before...
So, you in?
Hey Alice, long time no anything!
Free gig sounds good... when I think new years day gig, I think a park or beach somewhere, lying on the grass in the sun recovering... then I look out the window and see the rain - I'm in London...
Will be in touch by other methods of communication!
Hot corn! I just realised the Rapture are the people who sing "Whoo! Alright - Yeah... Uh huh!" - I love that song!
