A small selection of Guatsie pix
First Big Kev, and now Steve Irwin???
That makes me really really sad...
I'm lacking in Vegas and San Diego pix just now, until some form of communication becomes possible, so here's some Guatsie pix.
Eating in the markets at Chichicastenango (Chichi for short). The food in Guatemala is absolutely wonderful, and really really cheap.

Jo haggles over some textiles:
(Note for anyone confoosed: in the past few months, I have travelled and/or stayed with four different girls called Jo. This is Steve's (LB's) little sister, and this is her first feature on this blog.)

Some women in traditional clothing at the markets. Out in the country, they all still wear this gear.

Dude!

Most of the buses are donated old American school buses (hotted up to varying degrees). They are designed for school kids, and accommodate the 5ft high indiginous Guatemalan quite well, but my knees were as sore as buggery after a 5 hour ride, bus crammed full three to a seat!

Getting the boat across the Lago de Atitlan to San Pedro, in the background is San Pedro volcano, which we climbed. The lake is at an altitude of 1,600m, formed in a very old volcano crater (the 2nd biggest volcano lake in the world). The volcano behind is newer, and towers over it at over 3,000m.

View from doorway of our hotel room in San Pedro: lake views, balcony with hammock, one person to a bed (for the first time in over a week), $5 aussie per night!!
VERY refreshing after the U.S.!

This woman was having a juice feud with another woman over the road. Early on, they both just offered plain orange juice, and we divided our business evenly. But then this one upped the ante with orange/raspberry/blueberry/milk smoothies, and she got all the orders!
Oh, sensational!

The four of us (Back, L-R: Pete, me, Mike. Front: Jo), partway up the volcano.

At the top of the volcano, looking down to the lake far below.

Gorillas in the mist

This girl needs to be taken down!

More later, plus more descriptions.

I'm glad that in the midst of all those gawdily bright textiles, someone had the sense to wear a wifebasher.
And Dunlop Volleys! And he was farting like a trooper!
One word: Ambassador.
Nice pics! Looks like an awesome place to visit.
All your friends are good looking... and I'm proud to call you: 'friend'.
That last photo is a ripper. I think we've found our new lead for 'Wolf Creek 2'.
Well, I was hoping for 'Teen Wolf 2', but I'll take what I can get.
Kt- what can I say? I've got standards. Your close friends are the people you spend most of your life looking at, so it's whats on the outside that counts.
Thats a pretty freaky killer look on your face on the last photo! Can anyone confirm that the girl came back intact?
